Hunter Wellington, the Scottish Original

These boots would probably cost $1000.00 if they were still made in Scotland. They have grown extremely popular and in turn sourced out the production to China which is a bummer but it seems a company cannot compete with other brands if they do not outsource these days. How do we change that and still get our Wellies? I think there are millions of companies trying to solve that problem as we speak. . . or read.

Wellies & Kate

Stomping in the mud is now fashionable. Yippee. All us tom boys have been waiting for a pair of boots that allow us to get dirty and look good at the same time. They aren't cheap but they are adorable. Disclaimer: Do not stop eating to look good in rain boots.

Killer Whales are not our toys?

Zoos and animal amusement attractions use the cover of "science" to justify their shows. Getting a whale to splash kids with water is not science. Wish they would stop putting whales & dolphins in tanks. No creature deserves to live a captive life of confinement. Lets face it this is all about $$$$$, not the well being of these creatures. They say they rehabilitate the animals. The whale that killed the trainer was outright captured. If you are gonna go out and capture whales and dolphins Sea World then own up to it and stop calling it RESCUE. We are all outraged when we see dog & cat abuse but we pay to watch the abuse of whales and dolphins. THis is the equivalent of tying a dog to a tree FOREVER. Watch the debate now

Fresh the Movie

There is nothing that pulls at my heart more than the idea that our farmers are under educated and misled. Many of the "good ole' boys" I grew up around have been falsely influenced and under educated about the pesticides, antibiotics and hormones used on their farms. It is so important to spread the word about the amazing films that expose many truths and educate in an honest, simple way. Follow this link: http://www.freshthemovie.com/about/more-trailers/#Russ

Just Say NO to GMO

Click here to send a message to the USDA to stop this crime.

The USDA is well on its way to approving Monsanto's genetically modified alfalfa. In its own report, the USDA says that not enough consumers care enough about organic foods for the USDA to block Monsanto's modified alfalfa seeds. [1] This is absurd since one of the main reasons people buy organic food is to avoid genetically engineered crops.

The USDA is only accepting public comments for the next two weeks. We need you to write to the USDA right now and tell them they must not approve Monsanto's mutant alfalfa.

More on V house

Not the Mexico I know

This rustic-modern aesthetic hotel was designed by Heinz Legler, who used to own a film set construction company and Veronique Lievre, previously a set decorator, from Paris. They started this project as their personal hideaway, but it ended up construction an hotel in a 5 acre area, with infinity pool, spa, restaurants, yoga hut and 8 guest rooms.

I love the inspiration and the gorgeous furniture they offer. But this has gone too far. It is traumatic to see something so adorable and not be able to put it in your house right away. I must stop looking . . . it hurts.

Dalai Lama meets with Obama tomorrow

China is urging the US government to cancel plans for President Barack Obama to meet next week with Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. The White House Thursday confirmed that President Obama will meet the Dalai Lama on February 18, despite China's objections.
With China breathing down Obama's neck, the decision cannot be easy. Furthermore the desire to send a political message may not have been the intention for the meeting at all; but that is what it has become. All of a sudden the decision to proceed with the meeting is more significant than the meeting itself. I feel that many nations have been hiding from the Tibet issue for a long time, not wanting to "wake a sleeping giant". But, as momma always says: "Do the right thing, no matter what." In this situation, we have to take a stand for Tibet. It is a bad time for us to ruffle feathers, but doing the right thing when it is hard is what proves our character. Obama may have won a little more respect from me today and finally I see the future for Tibet looking a little more hopeful. Fate has a way of bringing sunlight into unexpected areas at unexpected times. Very interesting.

Time of the Season

The Zombies, the Beatles, English gardens, the accent, the best wooden stoves, the humor . . . time for a trip to the U.K.. I am convinced there is some greatness there that I shouldn't miss in this lifetime. This song is so perfect for this time of year. Summer is coming, there is a lot of energy in the air . . . fitting for the day.

Speaking of Bobs . . .

One cool BOB

Bob Barker has been an animal rights advocate for years funding spay and neuter campaigns with his own money. Now he has given Sea Shephard $5 million to buy equipment that will be used to save whales. O.k., this guy is cozy . . . just look at that smile.
