Sea Worthy?

Gorgeous photos from Morocco by Justine Melford-Colegate via.  Do you ever look at these weathered ships and wonder what stories they could tell? I do. This one is perfectly broken in.  I just wanna climb on board and drift. I have allowed myself to become as civilized as I can be in order to accomplish some goals that require shoes and a schedule. But the bohemian world beckons & I dream of answering the call. Society is full of rules that I was born to break. I mean we all have a little "Jack Sparrow" within right?  Lets just all drive blue ships instead of our cars; doesn't that sound DREAMY?

David Delfin & Gorka Postigo's Spanish Home

Sorry gang for being so missing in action lately.  . . busy times. This is not my job, it doesn't pay bills so . . . lets just call this my public scrapbook of things I love. There now that I have taken the pressure off myself I can take a deep breath and jump into action:

I agree with Karly from Design Crisis blog. Some of the art is creepy in this modern escape owned by   fashion designer, Delfin, and his lover, Postigo, a photographer. But the rest of the home is the creme de la creme. Whew, loving the white walls and the wooden furniture pieces. via

Summer House in Uruguay

Those of you who have visited my house know that this bathroom belongs there. Oh the bubble baths we could take. . . and the essential oil soaps we could stash all along the edges. I am just trying to figure out what kind of sealant they used on the wood. Gorgeous. via

Watch me . . . I've got it.

News on the street is that Eddie Murphy is up for the role as James Brown in a new movie about the Godfather of Soul. Rooting for you Eddie. By the way . . . "I've got soul and I'm super bad" should be everyone's new mantra for 2010. If you need inspiration for self love look nowhere but to James Brown. "Jump back gotta kiss myself." "Awwwwwe, I love to do my thing."

Le Grand Bleu

Recently, memories of the movie, The Big Blue, resurfaced. I do not remember every detail of the storyline, but I do remember, more importantly, the way the movie made me feel: at peace. I don't think another movie has ever translated the ocean so well. When I was land locked, I watched it religiously. It wasn't a success in the U.S (go figure) but hugely popular in France. This gets me to thinking, why was I born here? I am usually more aligned in my thought process with other nations. I wonder if France would take me in or Spain since I would fare better with the language there. I have been searching for a sign on whether I should tackle a jaunt to France in the coming months with my family. Once I read the reviews on one of my all time favorite movies, I chuckled out loud, the answer was clear: "go, go go". Thanks universe for spelling it out for me. It may sound crazy to love a nation because they embraced one of your favorite films, but if this movie changed your life like it did mine, you understand. Have a great weekend all, hope your answers come to you too.

Write the word happy 100 times

Wouldn't it be great to have nice words around the house? Just looking at the word gives me warm fuzzies. The next room is my kind of eclectic. Is it Moroccan, boho, European, modern? Well . . . . yes, yes and yes. Photos: Me & Alice and nice * room.

“Hipsters, Hustlers, and Handball Players”

See Leon Levenstein's photographs at the Metropolitan Museum of art, up through October 17th. I love the humanity he captures in his photographs.  He was slammed in the New York times review of his work, all of which I find interesting. In a nutshell, his review found the work to literal, capturing odd ball characters instead of the hidden human moments detected only by the trained eye. Where there is art, there is always a critic. What do you think about the article? Read it here.

Inspiration

Need a little inspiration?  Take a look at a peacock.  It is almost impossible to comprehend the magic of each detail. There is a fashion trend happening now which celebrates the beauty of this regal bird. I joined in and made some hair clips inspired by the colors and wore them with pride recently. Perhaps others were perplexed at my big headpiece, I on the other hand felt comfortable emulating this feathery fella. I mean he is the epitome of beauty right? photos by: Laura Melchior, via
